Cyberwarfare: Russia hits America again
Remember when Russian state-sponsored hacker group known under the names of Pawn Storm, Fancy Bear, Sednit and APT 28 was accused that they had hit the US Democratic Party officials and rigged 2016 US presidential election? Once again they are the stars of the show nowadays! Our Cyber Security Team just found out that same infamous group is conducting multiple attacks using fake phishing sites, which are impersonating the ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services) of the upper chamber, to hit the US Senate, this time. Our experts quickly linked this attack and the Russian hacker group after comparing multiple data from the fake sites with other data that are known to belong to the Russian hackers.
Although none of the ADFS servers of the US Senate are available to the public on the open internet, stealing login credentials trough fake ADFS sites makes a lot of sense because they can be used in later physical attacks done on the actual servers to reveal sensitive high profile date.
This kind of data can be used to destabilize the US through next elections that will be later this year, by targeting high profile individuals like in the case where Guccifer 2.0 targeted Hilary Clinton emails that turned the electorate against her in the run for the White House. The US is not the only one targeted by the Putin administration's information warfare, countries like Iran, France, Germany, Montenegro, Turkey or Ukraine are cyber attacked too. Russian hackers are organized into multiple groups specialized in malware, cyber threats and many other cyber crimes which are present all over the internet, our cybersecurity analyst says. This is why every system that you own must be updated all the time as soon as an update is out for both OSs or Apps running on them and remember that a top antivirus presence it is also a must in every device that is connected to the internet.
