Every device you own can be hacked. Today danger is more present than ever.
Here is how to protect your data and device.
Sadly our cybersecurity team has to report that every processor in your devices is affected by Meltdown or Spectre that exploits vulnerabilities like CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5715 or CVE-2017-5754.
No manufacturer is excluded from these vulnerabilities, Intel, Arm, AMD, IBM CPU, Apple and Qualcomm cores are hackable.
The last giant that joins the battle to secure their products is Qualcomm that released a weak statement regarding their products weakness, on short the report is: "We have the same vulnerabilities like everybody else, and we are working on patches for it! Wait for release and update!".
That doesn't conclude which products are vulnerable.
Our cybersecurity team knew and had analyzed some Qualcomm products and find out that they used a mix of customized off-the-shelf ARM cores and its homegrown ARM-compatible CPUs in its products.
Because Qualcomm is used în a considerable number of Android-based smartphones, tablets, and other devices our cybersecurity team found that Arm Cortex-A and Cortex-R CPU core designs could be exploited to the CVE-2017-5753 and CVE-2017-5715 Spectre vulnerability and only one the Cortex-A75 is vulnerable to more easily used CVE-2017-5754 Meltdown flaw.
The good news is that A75 is not used for the moment in any device on the market and it will be used in Snapdragon 845.
The other big player Apple will release as soon as possible patches for the same vulnerability, affecting its mobile devices, in the next iOS update.
Regarding macOS installed on Intel-based Macs, it needs the version 10.13.2 or higher to be safe against Meltdown hacks but remains vulnerable to Spectre, and it will be patched in an upcoming update.
Our top security analyst says: "The first company that will deliver patches for this security flows is IBM next week, so it is imperative to update as soon as an update is released. Nothing is surprising in cyber-space, security flows like this will come and go, some will be small others like this one will be very large, patches will be available at some point, and everything will be safe for a while.
Every user should keep their devices up to date, back up data often and use top antivirus software to stay safe when times like this come."
